If you've been around Parisian cafés, you'll have noticed that Cafés Richard's Perle Noire coffee is present in most of them. It is also regarded as the paragon of the art of classic French roasting, which Richard has perfected down to the last nuance. Unlike Italian roasts, or especially those from southern Italy, French coffee is roasted for a slightly shorter time and with less heat. But make no mistake, French roasting is still one of the darker roasts, along with Viennese and Italian roasting. The beans are therefore stripped of most of their acidity and gain in body and aroma. Perhaps not as intensely as an espresso from southern Italy, but there are advantages too. French roasting does not produce unpleasant bitter substances because of the lower heat. On the other hand, it contains more natural coffee aromas and fruity notes.

For Perle Noire ESE pods, 100% Arabica beans from Central and South America and Asia are roasted in this way. They are then blended into a unique blend and finely ground. The taste of Perle Noire is particularly round, harmonious and balanced. Not too acid but rich in aroma. Not too bitter, but still very intense. All in all, a French classic. In the cup, a full-bodied espresso with spicy notes of gingerbread and fruit awaits you. It's a delicious pod which, thanks to the intelligent ESE preparation method, has nothing to envy of an espresso on a filter holder.
