Coffee from Ethiopia
Solino is the first coffee that is 100% processed at origin. Best-selling author Waris Dirie (Desert Flower) supports and describes the Solino project in her new book, "Black Woman, White Country."
This means the entire value chain of the product remains in the country. In addition to coffee farmers, other skilled jobs are created for local people. That's more than any other Fairtrade coffee accomplishes. And this great espresso from the home country of the coffee plant also tastes excellent.
An important step for better Fairtrade coffee.
The proceeds of the project are reinvested in the country, for example in packaging machines and training.
It is important that the rich countries of the world open their markets and allow developing countries to share in the growth. We must not use Africa merely as a supplier of raw materials. Only by processing and adding value locally can the country develop and create skilled jobs.
By roasting and packaging locally, Ethiopia receives about 60% more money for the coffee - compared to the export of green unroasted coffee beans.
Support this project and enjoy the first-class Solino Espresso pure or as a basis for a cappuccino.
Coffee 100% made in Ethiopia - Info from the Solino website
Solino is the first coffee that is 100% made in Ethiopia. Harvesting, roasting and packaging is done in Ethiopia. Normally, coffee producers buy green green coffee in developing countries, but then process it in Europe. Thus, countries like Ethiopia serve only as cheap suppliers of raw materials. They are excluded from value creation.
Solino is a highland Arabica coffee from the Yirgacheffe, Harar and Sidamo regions. It is roasted in a traditional drum roaster at low temperature for over 22 minutes. Due to the particularly slow roasting, the aroma develops optimally. Solino Espresso and Caffè Crema are suitable for all fully automatic coffee machines. Caffè Crema is also well suited for classic filter coffee. (Solino Website)
