Materials and construction
The ergonomic handle of this tamper is made of polished walnut wood. The flat base is made of stainless steel, as are the spacer rings, which you can remove individually to adjust the height of the Tamper to your preference. How do I use the Tamper correctly?
The Tamper is used to compact/press the coffee grinds in the filter holder. The aim is to obtain a disc or pallet of coffee that is as smooth and even as possible. This is important so that the hot water can flow through evenly. The best way to do this is to position the Tamper straight up and press it down with a slight rotating movement. This movement ensures that the ground coffee surface is evenly distributed. Here, also, the well-known proverb "practice makes perfect" applies. However, if you want to extract an absolutely perfect and flawless espresso, you will also find the Hauck coffee tamper a great help.
